Garmin Nuvi 670 Review

By J Symons

With preloaded maps of both Europe and North America, the Garmin Nüvi 670 is could be the most versatile GPS navigation system to have. The widescreen of the Nüvi 670 makes it very easy to see the map of your surroundings for some distance ahead. It also features hands-free calling, traffic alerts and an FM transmitter.

You have everything you need to find the shortest route to your destination at your fingertips with the touch screen feature. In addition to the preloaded street maps of all the countries on two continents, the system also give you points of interest in all the cities you visit along the way.

You will never be without a hotel, restaurant or gas station because these essential locations are all loaded into the maps as well.

When you touch the screen of the Nüvi 670 to enter your destination, you will receive voice directions to help with your driving and be able to see the route on either a 2-D or 3-D map.

The voice will announce the names of streets and exits as you approach them so that you have plenty of time to be able to make the turns you need. You can also customize the points of interest when you know exactly what attractions you want to visit in a location through free software that you download to your Garmin system.

You will receive a video and audio alert when you are within close proximity of these attractions.

You will be able to see the widescreen map display from any part of the vehicle, no matter what the sunlight conditions may be. The display area of the screen is a full 4.3 inches.

You don't have to take your hands off the wheel or your eyes off the road in order to make a phone call. The touchpad on the Nüvi screen enable you to dial the number you want to call and when you receive a call, all you have to do is tap the screen and speak into the microphone.

If there is traffic congestion up ahead, the Nüvi 670 system will alert you of this. Then you can touch the screen to see the problem and choose an alternate route that will not cause you to lose any time.

    Random Pick
I listed the pros and cons of the Garmin Rino 120 and came up with one con: the buttons are a little small for my oversized hands to operate quickly with gloves on. The Pros? How much time do you have? Let's start with the fact that at around $220 full retail, the price is right--no small consideration in today's economy. Never the type to save the best for last, I'll tell you the really cool features up front.
